Margaret Ethel Jessop Cowger, 69, of 811 W. Second St., died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at her home.She was born May 25, 1940, in Ottumwa to Benjamin Mitchell and Rose Clarkson Jessop.She married Harry Duane Cowger June 20, 1968, in Lancaster, Mo.She was a member of East End Pentecostal Church of God, Women's Ministries and Home League at the Salvation Army. She had worked at the Diner, Pizza Hut, in home care, housekeeping and child care. She was a homemaker, loving mother, wife, grandma, sister and aunt.Survivors include her husband; one son, Duane Cowger; two daughters, Rhonda (Rick) Lathrop and Michelle (Chris) McElroy; two stepsons, Clifford and James Cowger; four grandchildren, Nisha and Vincent Lathrop and Nicholas and Sara McElroy; one great-grandchild, Odin Kempf; three sisters; Eleanor Pilcher, Juanita Kain and Connie Brackett; one aunt, Eleanor Bullock; one uncle, Johnnie Jessop; several nieces and nephews and cousins and a special daughter, Rebecca Sird and granddaughters, Yvette Bringolf, Melody Keyes and Veronica Jo Sird and their families.She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Clay McElroy; a brother, Mitchell Junior Jessop and a sister, Josephine Jessop.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home with Pastor George Edgerly officiating and burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.Open visitation begins at noon on Tuesday with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m.Memorials may be made to the family.
