Hammons, Dugal, b. ca. 1845, Robinson County, NC. Former Confederate soldier, captured and sent to Pt. Lookout, Maryland, where he eventually took the oath of allegiance and enlisted in Co. K, 1st United States Volunteer Infantry ("Galvanized Yankees"). Involved in a mutiny, court martialed and order to be shot, but sentenced reduced to hard labor. D. 1/13/1865 (chronic diarrhea). Remains removed from Ft. Rice Cemetery and reburied in this cemetery, 3/6/1905.
