After her husband died she sold her property and moved to Mendota, Missouri in 1884. Went through Mendota during a Fourth of July celebration. Made carpets out of rags from tying, dyeing, and weaving. She had to take over responsibilities of a man as a widow--wrestled hogs, made lard in large vats, etc. [according to grandson Ival Moore, 1976]
