Services for Mrs. J.W. Attaway were held in the Calf Creek Church. She died at the home of a daughter, 10 miles southeast of Brady where she had been living since 1948. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, she married in Waco in 1880. The couple lived near Waco for several years, then moved to Comanche County. They moved to McCulloch County in 1901 and bought a farm which is still owned by the Attaway family. Her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Attaway had been a member of the Baptist Church for 72 years. Survived by seven daughters - Mrs. J.A. McCoy, Mrs. T.J. Bingham, Mrs. Ollie Kiser, Mrs. C.O. Bingham, Mrs. J.B. Wren, Mrs. J.W. Ewing, Mrs. Cody Bradshaw; one sister - Mrs. N.C. Cottrell.
