Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the West Side District Cemetery for Boyd Alexander, 74, of 14 Cypress Lane, who passed away April 8 at a local hospital. The Taft-Midway Lodge no. 426, F. and A.M. will officiate. Mr. Alexander was born Feb 12, 1911, in Bull Run, Ohio. He was a year old when he came to Taft, and was raised and educated here. He was a member of the Methodist Church the Taft Midway Lodge No. 426, F. and A.M. and the Taft Hi Twelve Club no 216. Mr. Alexander was past president and member of the Taft Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He served on the Taft City Council for many years and served as Mayor of the City of Taft from 1966 to 1968. He was manager for many years of the Ford Alexander Corp., Dia Lot. Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Leola S., of Taft; three sons and their wives, Ray and Leona of Salinas, Howard and Maureen of Sonoma, and John and Linda of Danville; two daughters and their husbands, Deanna and Michael Furtney of Danville; two daughters and their husbands, Deanna and Michael Furtney of Danville, Claudia and Richard Casagrande of Taft; grandchildren, Boyd, Stephanie, Jason, Amy, Wesley, Wade, and Molly Alexander; Tom Hilard and Meredith Furtney; Alissa, Jessica and Emily Casagrande; Bob Haskin, Wendy Phipps-Smith, and Jenny and Cathy Phipps; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Friends may pay their respects at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home tonight until 8:30 p.m. and tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
