Mrs. Ruth Knight Atkins--A native of Brantley, AL, a longtime resident of Mobile and a resident of Foley died in a local health care facility on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at the age of 93. She was a graduate of Ariton High School. Mrs. Atkins worked for Southern Railway as an agent/telegrapher for 25 years. She was a past president of the Mobile Chapter of the National Association of Railway Business Women. She was a former member of the Transportation-Communication Employees Union, the Order of Railroad Telegraphers and Brotherhood of Railway, Airline and Steam Ship Clerks. Mrs. Atkins was also a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death her daughter, Annette Dyer. She is survived by a son, Ted Atkins of Selma, AL; three sisters, Clyde Beall of Tyler, TX, Janie Barrington of Pensacola and Jeanette Thibodeaux of Hawkins, TX; a brother, Glenn Knight of Pensacola; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday, February 14, 2003 from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 2PM from the graveside in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street Extension, Mobile, AL.
