Born in Napa County, Ca at aunts home (Grigsby dairy ranch), father was Wm Henry Williams and mother. Candance Shields Williams. Mother remarried Joseph Gschwend after father Wm Henry Williams died and the family lived at Philo,Anderson Valley, Ca. The Gschwends established Christina, the Mill and built the first road over the hill to Ukiah there. After the Mill burned , the Joseph Gschwend family then moved to Monterey County, Little Sur area and established a new home area. Joseph's brother , John Gschwend remained in the Philo area and his involment grew there. Anne (Nancy Jane) married John Bourges, then Crechriou in Monterey and lived on a ranch near San Lucas, Ca. She is buried with her sons, Alfred and Abel Bourges,at Gazelle cemetery near daughter's ranch. Mother was Candance Shields, who came west on a wagon train, married Williams . then Joseph Gschwend. Anne lived most of her teenage life in Little Sur, Ranch, Ca. Granddaughter is Mary Crechriou Bridwell of Gezelle. Six half siblings died at Little Sur of TB.
