Aleatha Isabell Riney, 89, died February 25, 2005, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, where she had resided since August 2004.
Aleatha was born February 21, 1916, in rural Scotland County, the daughter of William A. and Nellie L. (Childers) Forrester. She grew up in the Edinburg community and attended Edinburg grade school. She graduated from Memphis High School with the class of 1933 and then attended Gem City College in Quincy, IL.
Aleatha was united in marriage to Lloyde E. Riney on September 25, 1936, in Memphis, MO. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Lloyde and Aleatha farmed in the Bible Grove community until retiring and moving to Memphis in 1976.
She attended the Edinburg Baptist Church and was a member of the Memphis Baptist Church during her younger years. While living on the farm, the family attended the Antioch Christian Church and the McAdow Community Church. At the time of her death, Aleatha was a member of the Memphis Christian Church.
After moving to Memphis, Aleatha was a board member and volunteer at the Scotland County Senior Center. She also served several years as a board member to the Northeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging.
For several years she participated in the Senior Olympics. Aleatha enjoyed traveling, quilting, walking and playing cards and games with her many friends and family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two daughters, Janet O'Rourke, and Evelyn Ann in infancy; one granddaughter in infancy; two brothers, Francis and Floyd Forrester; three sisters, Marjorie West, Mary Deane Shelley and Blanche Kirkland; and two sons-in-law, Calvin Donahue and Rosco Blaine.
Survivors include three daughters: Rosalie Donahue of Hume, MO, Opal Blaine of Rutledge, MO, and Ruth Ann Carnes of Jefferson City, MO; seven grandchildren, Rachel Hance and husband Ron of Auburn, WA, Dennis Blaine and wife Renee of Memphis, MO, Kevin Blaine of Rutledge, MO, Lesa Berry and husband Larry of Hume, MO, Michael Donahue of Butler, MO, Phillip Carnes and wife Joyce of Kirksville, MO, and Shawn O'Rourke of Columbia, MO; ten great-grandchildren, Laci, Derrick, Kimberly and Deidre Blaine, Bobby and Braden Berry, Morgan and MaKenna Carnes, and Ryan and Robbie Hance; one brother, Robert Forrester and wife Bernice of Tucson, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Florine Forrester of Memphis, Mo, and Helen Street of Plymouth, MI; one brother-in-law, Ernest Kirkland of Upland, CA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were March 1, 2005 in the First Christian Church in Memphis, MO, with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Angela Westhoff and Joyce Carnes provided special music. Dennis Blaine, Kevin Blaine, Phillip Carnes, Ted Coats, Shawn O'Rourke, and Larry Berry served as pallbearers.
