Mrs. Anna Ruth Cason Akins, age 92, died Saturday, January 30th, 2010, at the Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilitation Center in Statesboro. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was born May 18, 1917, to the late Roger E. and Anna Olliff Cason. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Akins was a member of Town and Country Garden Club, Register Homemakers Club and Newcastle Homemakers Club. Mrs. Akins was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mina Franklin Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Akins and a son, John Roger Akins.

Surviving are three sons and four daughters-in-law, Carl O. and Jean Akins of Statesboro, Elder William A. (Billy) and Janis Akins of Vidalia, James E. (Jimmy) and Nancy Akins of Statesboro and Theresa Akins of Statesboro; seven grandchildren, Cindy and Paul Bennett of Brooklet, Carl Akins, Jr. of Statesboro, Debbie and Andrew McColgan of Ft. Mills, SC, Jim Akins of Statesboro, Clint and Julie Akins of Statesboro, Jason and Becki Akins of Register and Donna and Skeebo Moore of Statesboro and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Bill Durrence officiating, assisted by Elder Randy Waters.

Interment will be in the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Akins, Jr., Clint Akins, Jim Akins, Jason Akins, Paul Bennett, Cody Bennett, Skeebo Moore and Andrew McColgan.
