Cornelius Phillip Kimpton and Augusta A. Woodward were married March 13, 1855. Census, 1850, indicates that both families had been living in Fort Jackson, New York. Cornelius built a sawmill where he and his brothers made barrels and butter tubs.
Cornelius and son, Charles, went to Iowa from Hopkinton, NY in the spring of 1876. They started a farm, built a house and awaited the arrival of wife and mother, Augusta, and seven more children.
Almost immediately Augusta, and son, Fred, died. (see A.A.'s record) Cornelius later married widow, Emma Gertrude Ackerman Vandenberg. They had seven children together. Emma and twelve Kimpton children attended their father's funeral as reported in the Bedford Free Press, Dec. 3, 1909.
