when Nancy died early Joseph remarried a Ms. Mary Bridges. Together they had a son James, born in 1844. He joined Company F, 56th North Carolina Infantry on 6/8/1862 and was wounded on 9/21/1864 from a shell fragment while in the trenches in and around Petersburg, VA. He bled out and died on 9/24/1864. James was most likely buried in the trenches around Petersburg. Mary and Joseph had no other children.
