MABLE BARNES, age 93, of Gainesville, passed away on January 26, 2010 in Gainesville, Florida.

Ms. Barnes was born in 1916 in White Plains, GA. She and her family moved to Gainesville in 1925 and were affiliated with a local dairy.

She attended business school and worked with the Jenkins & Haines law firm until her retirement in the late 70's. Ms. Barnes continued to work long after her retirement caring for her friends and many nieces and nephews. Her desire to have others' needs met before her own was important to her until the time of her death.

Ms. Barnes is survived by her beloved cat, "Mamason," three nephews, two nieces, and many great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be a Milam Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 27th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 28th at 11:00 AM at the Milam Chapel, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice/E.T. York Care Center or to the Humane Society of Alachua County.
