Floyd attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit, MI.
After his tour in the U.S. Army, where he received a purple heart medal and a bronze star, he continued to work for the government and retired from Civil Service.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 37 years, Betty Handsor of Columbus, GA; a daughter, Donnetta Handsor of Atlanta, GA; step-father, Walter Smith of Detroit, MI; a brother, Mark Smith of Detroit, MI; sisters, Silvia Thomas of Heath Springs, SC, Diane Lewis of Woodbridge, VA and Faith Clarke of Brea, CA; nieces and nephews, Charisse Ferrebee, Gary Lewis, Brian Lewis, Brandon Clarke and Rachel Clarke; a host of other relatives and friends.
