Roy Henry Adrian, 84 of Marion died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at his home. He was born July 13, 1920 in Rogers City to Henry and Mary (Egenriether) Adrian. He married Vera Butler January 16, 1944, in Detroit. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2001.

Mr Adrian graduated from Rogers City High School in 1940. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was trained as a pilot. He worked in the greater Detroit area in the iron industry for 33 years, retiring from his position as a field supervisor in 1978. He was a member of Local Union #25.

He loved flying airplanes and in the eighties built his own single engine aircraft. He continued to fly out of the Lake City Airport until the spring of 2004. He belonged to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and the Short Wing Piper Club. He was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed spending time fishing.

He was a member of the Marion United Church where he taught high school Sunday school class, was a member of the pastor parish committee and the church board. He also served as a lay speaker.

He is survived by his sons, Van Allen (Ruth) Adrian of Browns Mills, New Jersey, and David H (Linda Davis) Adrian of Fenton, Michigan; siblings Fern Tisch of Frasier, Michigan, Harry (Trudy) Adrian of Alpena, and Lorraine (Robert) Nelson of Suttons Bay; grandsons, Adam Roy Adrian and David William Adrian, both of Browns Mills, New Jersey; Nicholas David Adrian, Billy Nolan Adrian, and Jonathan Phillip Adrian, all of Fenton, Michigan; and Kevin Adrian and Allen Adrian, both of Lake Delton, Wisconsin; granddaughter Tammy Adrian, Rockledge, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his wife, Vera, Mr Adrian was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernie and Martin; and three sisters, Ruth, Clara (Girlie) and Hazel.

Services for Mr Adrian were Saturday, November 27th, at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home in Marion. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Marion.
