Last Wednesday Fred Green's trotting horse Hiawatha died, causing a loss of $1,200 or $l.000 to Fred. The cause of the horses death is not exactly known but it is thought to be rupture. FRED GREEN DIES AT CINCINNATI
George N. Bender received word this morning that Frederick Green had died at his home in Cincinnati yesterday, and that his body would be brought to this city Tuesday night. He will be taken to the Bender store and Wednesday the burial will be had in Oaklawn cemetery. No particulars have been received concerning his death, or the cause leading to it.
Frederick Green was an old time resident of North Manchester, having been a carpenter here in an early day, and later was in the saloon business. He was really the father of the North Manchester fair, for he is credited with being the leader when the first fair association was formed here. His first wife died here, and after her death he went to Marion and from there to Cincinnati, being away from her for nearly fifteen years. After leaving here he was married again. He was in the neighborhood of ninety years of age.
Fred Green's second wife's name was Jennie, according to his death certificate.
