William Johnny Blocker of Florence, passed away on Dec. 31, 2009, at ECM Hospital. He was 69. Funeral services were held Jan. 3 in the chapel of Elkins Funeral Home in Florence with Fred Rowden officiating. Entombment followed at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens with Elkins Funeral Home of Florence directing. Pallbearers were Beau Dunavant, Brandon Richardson, Bradley Conley, Justin Vayda, Sam Davis, Brian Whitten, Rick Blocker, Randy Blocker, Rich Richardson, Dean Fletcher, Joshua Hamilton, Nic Blocker and Matt Blocker. Memorial contributions may be made to the ECM Charitable Fund, P.O. Box 998, Florence, AL 35631.
Mr. Blocker was a graduate of Geneva High School and a retired tuck driver from Wiley Sanders Truck Lines. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Fransis Blocker; his father, Edmon Johnny Blocker; and a grandson, Johnathan Neil Hamilton.
Survivors include his daughters: Renee Richardson and husband Rich; Rhonda Fletcher and husband Dean, both of Toney; his sons: Randall Blocker of Moulton; Rick Blocker and wife Tracy of Anderson; his mother: Edna Bea Blocker, Dothan; his sister: Jean Spikes, Dothan; his brother, Devon Blocker, Tacoma, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grand children.
