Ruth C. Barr, 80, of Whitesville, died Monday, August 2, 1982 at NHE Owensboro. She was born in Daviess County and was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Whitesville, the church altar society and the Legion of Mary. Her husband, William Garrett Barr, died in 1971. Mrs. Barr leaves 136 living descendants. Survivors include six sons, Louis & Herman Barr, both of Owensboro, and Jackie, Martin, Gerald & Freddie Barr, all of Whitesville; seven daughters, Sr. Aloysius Marie Barr, Ruth Ann Mayfield and Janet Goff, all of Owensboro, Helen Lewis, of Winslow, IN, Mary Lillian Hamilton, of Gary, IN, Wilma Howard of Guston and Angela Marie Mincy, of Franklin; 67 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Payne of Rockport, IN, and Martin Payne of Owensboro; and a sister, Lucille Harris of Owensboro. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Whitesville. Burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Browns Valley. Visitation after 1 p.m. today at Cecil Funeral Home, Whitesville, where prayers will be said at 8 p.m. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Kentuckiana Hemophilia Foundation, 224 E. Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202.
