Lawrence was born on his grandfather's Donation Land Claim farm near Days Creek, Oregon.
He was raised in Canyonville, graduated from Canyonville High School, then attended the University of Oregon, where he enrolled in the Reserve Officers training Corps. He volunteered to serve in the Army in World War I and served 18 months in France.
Lawrence served his county in both wars. World War I and World War II.

University of Oregon, Eugene, Nov 23., Special-
Figures given out from the office of the registrar today show that 15 seniors in the University will be graduated in January if they fulfill their major requirements and obtain the necessary number of credits. Those with intentions of trying for a degree are, and among 14 others, Lawrence J. Boyle of Canyonville;.

In 1926 he was aboard the ship "Empress of Australia" to Hong Kong, China and other ports of call, docking back in Seattle May 5 of that same year.

Lawrence Boyle of Canyonville was placed under $250. peace bond here today following a hearing in justice court,
where he was accused of making threats against Rev. A.M. Shaffer, preacher- mayor of Canyonville.
The trouble it was shown, grew out of religious differences, which came to a head several weeks ago when a party of young men led by Boyle was routed from a tent in which Rev. Mr. Shaffer, an exponent of Aimee Semple McPherson's "four square " gospel, was conducting a revival service, after a free- for- all fight, in which the preacher-mayor laid out Boyle with a blackjack.
In later court records it states that the Preacher-Mayor had made statements against Lawrence's mother Della Jackson Boyle,who had been ejected from membership of the church, and these statements led to the trouble.

Lawrence married Mariam Beatrice Poteete , October 7, 1942 in Salinas, Monterey County, California.
Beatrice was born in Webbers Falls, Muskogee County, Oklahoma ,January 10 1913.
Lawrence was 44 years old when he married Beatrice. They moved from California to Canyonville a few years after WW II ended.
This writer spoke with Beatrice before she passed, she was very ill at the time.Beatrice said they were a happy couple and they had a wonderful life together.

Lawrence said he wanted to live to be 100 years old and then he would be ready to go, he stopped eating and died in 8 weeks. He was happy to go, it had been a long good life, Lawrence died just as he wanted. Died at Grandview Care Center, 1458 West Umpqua Street, Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon.
He lived his life and left it on his own terms.
He did it his way.

Anyone wondering about the Boyle name being of Irish orgin, it is not, it is German, refer back to our ancestors and the Beil name, it became, Beyl, Boyl, and then some of the family as my great grandfather and Lawrence's grandfather "Isaac Lee Boyle " changed it from Boyl to Boyle.Some of Isaac's brothers in Indiana and Virginia retained the Boyl spelling and his parents died with the Boyl name, his grandfather Wilhelm and grandmother Anna Maria died with the name Beyl.
It is well documented by professionals besides my years of research and records. The Irish came from Isaac's mother's side, Margaret McClanahan's father William McClanahan.
