Leo H. Luecke was born on December 20, 1916, the son of Walter F. and Mary Natschke Luecke at Ash Grove, Illinois. He was baptized on Dec. 31, 1916 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodworth, Illinois by Rev. Meier.
On March 29, 1931, Leo was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodworth, by Rev. Jeschke. His confirmation verse was Psalm 143;10.
Leo married Loretta E. Molck on November 24, 1938 at Melvin, Illinois by Rev. Foelsch. She preceded him in death on September 10, 1995. The marriage was blessed by two daughters, Marlene and Judith.
Leo was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 23, 2000, attaining the age of 83 years, 1 month and 3 days. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his two daughters, Marlene C (Charles) Schultz of Wellington, Illinois and Judith L (Edward) Smith of Fairbury, Illinois; three granddaughters and two great-grandsons; three sisters, Mildred Bohner and Helen Bohner, both of Milford, Illinois and Lucile Schuler of Gilman, Illinois; one brother, Norman W. Luecke of Sheldon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and his spiritual brothers and sister of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, Illinois.
