Ness City -- Martina Mary Betz, 72, died April 24, 1992, at her home. She was born Nov. 30, 1919, at Schoenchen, the daughter of Jacob and Helen Zimmerman Degenhardt.
A Ness County resident since 1927, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers, both of Ness City.
On July 26, 1937, she married Howard Betz at Nonchalanta. He died Feb. 6, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, Randy, Ness City: two daughters, Shelby McCain, Dodge City, and Sheila McBee, Utica; four brothers, Isidore Rebel, St. Paul, Minn., Gilbert Rebel, Ness City, Ralph Rebel, Bazine, and Gerald Rebel, Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Ruth Rupp, and Vera Munsch, both of Ness City; two stepsisters, Josephine Basgall, LaCrosse, and Janet Girard, Bishop, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Parish vigil will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City, with Father Thomas Wagner presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ness City.
Memorials may be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Sacred Heart School, both in care of the funeral home.
