Short Illness is Fatal For DuBois Woman
Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Anderson, an esteemed resident of DuBois, died Wednesday at 1:25 a.m. following a short illness, death taking place at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Thomas, of 223 South Church street. Mrs. Anderson had been sick for a little over one week, having been afflicted with paralysis of the throat on September 13. Her sickness was not deemed serious at first and her death came suddenly, proving a great shock to her family and a large circle of friends.
Mrs. Anderson was a woman of highly estimable qualities, a kindly mother and earnest Christian woman, one whose death is generally regretted throughout the community. Her husband preceded her to the grave 24 years ago.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Monterey, Armstrong county, on the 6th day of July, 1865, and was therefore 66 years of age. She came to DuBois in 1907. She was an earnest member ob the First Methodist church.
The deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. John Thomas, DuBois; Mrs. John D. Anderson, Cleveland; Mrs. D.H. Holby, Farrell; Mrs. Harry DaHill, South Dayton, N.Y.; Mrs. F.B. Spencer, DuBois; Mrs. Charles D. Tice, Orangeville, O.; R.C. Anderson, DuBois; D.L.Anderson, Pittsburgh. The following brothers and sisters survive:
Mrs. Catherine Anderson, Mrs. Jacob Bowser,; Mrs. H.C. Alexander, all of DuBois; John Bowser, Painted Post, N.Y.; Jerry Bowser, Philadelphia; Richard Bowser, Braddock; Charles Bowser, Braddock; Mrs. Ella Owens, Braddock. Eighteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive
Funeral services will be held at 223 South Church street on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. H.K. Freeman, of the Baptist church, and Dr. Austin Rinker, of the First Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Rumbarger cemetery.
