Catherine was born to NC Senator William R Hall and Anna Laspeyre, moved to Mornoe cty AL where she married Edward A Gause in Oct 1860. Following the end of the Civil War she and Edward settled in Crockett, TX. After raising several children in Crockett she died there on their 23rd wedding anniversary in 1883.

After visiting the cemetery in Crockett it was explained that a family member removed all of the old weathered individual stones replacing them with the large Gause surname stone, without transferring individual vital data - poor choice...

When replacing headstones be sure to preserve all the original data or it may be lost forever.
