An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, December 12, 1991:

Mrs. Lela Sims of Gatesville died here December 4. She was 83.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Restland Cemetery with Rev. James Boling officiating. Scott's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sims was born April 27, 1908, in Coryell County, daughter of the late William and Lockie Mae Owen, and attended Concord School.
She married Mr. Clarence J. Sims in 1944. He preceded her in death April 9,1968. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys Laveme Rogers in 1988 and Joyce Marie Mires in 1953.
Mrs. Sims had been employed as a dietician with the Rotunda, now Canterbury Villa Nursing Home.
She was a member of Calvary Temple Church.
Survivors include two sons, O'Dell Mires of Killeen and Raymond Mires of Roanoake Rapids, North Carolina; two brothers, J.L. Owen and Hardy Owen, both of McGregor; 10 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren.
