Betty Louise Mathias, 81, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Golden Living Center. Born Oct. 10, 1928, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Clara Reed Geisbert. She was the wife of Henry Mathias, who died in August 1987. She had been the former manager of the American Legion Carroll Post 031 in Westminster. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for more than 61 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing and working for various veterans causes. Surviving are a daughter, Terry Turfle Mathias, of Westminster; grandchildren and spouses Heather and Bradley Ruby, of Finksburg, and Chad and Courtney Mathias, of Westminster; and brother and sister-in-law William and Ruthanna Geisberg, of Frederick. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ann Geisbert Jones, and a son-in-law, J. Raymond Mathias. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
