CLAXTON - Mrs. Ruby Brown Akins, 87, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Evans Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Blitchton. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, Lehman Akins, her daughter, Faye Akins, and her brother, Robert Brown. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Elaine Akins of Claxton, and Gary and Sharon Akins of Jacksonville; one brother and sister-in-law, J.O. and Jenny Brown of Savannah; grandchildren, Shane Akins of Ellabell, Angie Holland of Lyons, and Linda Thornton of Rincon; step grandchildren, Ashley Harvey of Collins, Lisa White of Jacksonville, Marie White of Jacksonville, and Alan Young of Savannah; great grandchildren, Brittney Cowart, Brandon Cowart, Adam Akins, Philip Akins, and several step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Rev.
