- Obituary - Leonard Graphic - 17 Mar 1939 - Rev. Dr. E.W. Alderson - Funeral services were conducted at Dallas last Saturday morning at 10 o'clock for the Rev. Dr. E. W. Alderson, veteran Methodist minister. Burial was in Bonham where Dr. Alderson had been three times pastor of the Bonham Methodist church and was presiding Elder from 1915 to 1919. He was noted for his learning and oratorical ability. He retired in 1928 and had lived in Dallas since 1929. He founded Old Trinity College at Gainesville and was a trustee at Southwestern University at Georgetown for many years. While he was presiding Elder of the Bonham District he made quarterly visits to the local for its business meetings. Dr. J. F. Alderson, one time pastor of the church here, was a brother of the deceased. Dr. Alderson had served as Presiding Elder of the Bowie, Dallas, Sulphur Springs, Paris, Sherman and Bonham districts. The North Texas Conference named him delegate to the general conference of 1894 at Memphis, Tenn; at Dallas in 1902; in Asheville in 1910, and at Atlanta in 1918. At the Asheville conference he assisted in revising the ritual of the church. He is survived by his wife, the former Mrs. G. V. Ridley of Commerce, a son, Roy, and a daughter, Mrs. Grady Duncan. -- TXFannin GenWeb #: 000080
