Carmen (Carmino) Acierno, 81, of Crosby died Tuesday in the Port Allegany Community Hospital where he had been admitted June 1. He had been in ill health for a number of years. He was born in Rutland, Vt., April 28, 1891, a son of the late John T. and Anna Marie Pynell Acierno. He married Amelia P. Conte in Hazel Hurst July 19, 1915, and the family had resided in McKean County since their marriage. They moved to Crosby in 1928. Mr. Acierno was a wood jobber for many years and was also employed by Kaul Clay Products of Clermont. The Backus Novelty Co. of here was his last place of employment. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, John A. Acierno of Marienville and Michael F. Acierno of Emporium; three daughters, Mrs. Alex Cunningham of Smethport, Mrs. William Whiting of Seneca Falls, N.Y., and Mrs. Eugene Valeria of Bradenton Beach, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Theresa Salvanio of New Brunswick, N.J., and several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the Fry Funeral Home where the Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday and a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church with the Rev. John R. Snyder, pastor of St. Raphael's Church in Eldred, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
