Virginia G. Brooks, 94, of Springfield, formerly of Bolivar, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in the Maranatha Village Lodge in Springfield.
She was born March 23, 1916, in Springfield, the daughter of Fred and Virgie Walton Marlin.
She was a member of the Gospel Chapel Church Springfield. She married Charles W. Brooks in March 1938 and to this union eight children were born.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles W. Brooks; a daughter, Bonnie Snow; two sisters, Margaret Clemons and Mazie Hargus; and two brothers, Bud Marlin and Fon Marlin.
She is survived by seven children, Patty Copeland of Springfield, Nina Anderson, Charles Brooks and wife Peggy, all of Bolivar, Fred Brooks and wife Thelma, Judy Coulter, all of Springfield, John Brooks and wife Cheryl of Willard and Linda Hopkins and husband Joe of Ozark; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Stokes and husband George of Brighton, Mary Parker of Nixa and Millie Alexander of Willard; one brother, Paul Marlin of Springfield; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. today (Friday, April 2) in the Crestview Cemetery, Bolivar. Pallbearers will be the family. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home prior to the service. Friends and family may sign a guest book or send private condolences at www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel, Bolivar.
