MYRTIE (DAVIS) SHIFFLETT
Mrs. Myrtie Ann (Davis) Shifflett, 74, wife of Alexander Shifflett, Hagerstown RD5, died at 12:16 am, today at her home near Ringgold, MD. She had been in failing health for the past two years following a stroke affecting her right side, and for the past five weeks was critically ill and confined to her bed.
She was born at Elkton, VA, a daughter of the late Charles and Jane Davis. The family moved to their present residence from Elkton in 1929. They farmed near Ringgold. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ringgold, and the Women's Bible class.
In addition to her husband she is survived by these children; Willard E. Shifflett, York, PA, Mrs. W. C. Minnick Sr, Quincy, PA, Mrs. Roland Miner, Waynesboro, PA, Owen Shifflett, Leitersburg, MD, Dennis Shifflett, Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. Gordon West, Norfolk, VA; twelve grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers; Arthur Davis, Parsons, W.VA, Warren Davis, Boonesville, VA, George W. Davis, Eureka, Mont.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 pm, from the First Christian Church in Ringgold. Burial will be made in the Ringgold cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 pm, at the Grove Funeral Home, and at the church Tuesday an hour prior to the service.
