A. C. Fitzhugh Succumbs At 79
Gloucester - A Gloucester County native, Allen Christian Fitzhugh, 79, died Thursday in Philadelphia, where he had made his home for the past 34 years.
Mr. Fitzhugh was a retired associate of the Margaret Penn Candy Company of Philadelphia and a past president of the Philadelphia Confectioners Association. He was a member of Botetourt Lodge No. 7, AF and AM at Gloucester and was a past master of the lodge.
Mr. Fitzhugh once owned Boxley Farm near New Upton in Gloucester County.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sally Wilson Fitzhugh of Philadelphia, and daughter, Mrs. John Meeham of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Philadelphia and Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Batist Church at Pinero. His body will rest at the Bridges Funeral Home here from 8 p.m. Saturday until 12 noon Sunday.
