INDIAN TRAIL Mr. Aldridge died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital Palliative Care in Charlotte. A native of Union County, Ethan was born October 8, 1930 to the late Roy and May Knight Aldridge. He was also preceded in death by his son, Benny Aldridge, grandson, Adam Aldridge, and brother, Jon Aldridge.
Ethan was a Korean War Veteran, serving his country from 1947 until 1951 in the Marine Corps., George Company. He loved his family and friends, helping the neighbors working and attending church. His favorite past time was to tell a story or to learn a new joke. He always enjoyed a hard day's work and owned and operated Tompkins-Johnson Company, a mechanical contracting business that he worked side-by-side with his three sons since 1972. He was a member of the NC Heating and Cooling Association.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Christine Rowell Aldridge; sons, Randy Aldridge and wife Kyle of Lake Norman, Roger Aldridge and wife Debra of Charlotte, grandchildren, Jessica and Harrison Aldridge, and Torie Edwards; brothers, Dowd Aldridge of Lancaster, SC, Brooks Aldridge of Fort Mill, SC, and Roy Aldridge of Mint Hill; and sister, Evon Helms of Charlotte.
A service to celebrate the life of Ethan will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the McEwen Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has requested that memorials be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 3207 Wesley Chapel-Stout Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
