COOPER, William S. Sr., departed this life on November 22, 2009 in St. Mary's Hospice Unit, after a courageous struggle with challenging health issues. Bill is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 57 years, LaVerne; son, Bill Jr. and his significant other, Adele Johnson; son, Kenneth E. Cooper Sr. and devoted daughter-in-law, Glenda R. Cooper; three grandsons, one granddaughter, three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Other survivors include a sister, Magdalene C. Benns and brother, Fred A. Cooper and his wife, Esther; one nephew, Lawrence N. Cooper; two nieces, Constance C. Edwards and Charmaine F. Cooper-Jamison; one great-nephew and one great-niece. His beloved in-laws include two brothers-in-law, Sandie and Robert Wingo, two sisters-in-law Gloria W. Wallace and Thelma Wingo, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. In 1957 Bill was the first Black to graduate from the MCV (now VCU) School of Pharmacy He was the owner of former Maymont Pharmacy and he finished his career at Rite-Aid Pharmacy. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, November 28 at Ebenezer Baptist Church 216 W Leigh St, Dr. Levy Armwood officiating. Family visitation will be on Friday, November 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Scott's Funeral Home 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the William S.
