Mona Baxter (May 10, 1918 - May 8, 2017)
Mona Baxter, 98, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at Acton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mona was born May 10, 1918 in Leaday to John and Mary Matthews. She was raised at Talpa and Shep and graduated from Blackwell High School. She married Jerrel Baxter on December 3, 1938 in Caps and they lived in Winters and Abilene before moving to White Settlement in 1956 and later to Azle in 2005. She was a member of Ash Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years on February 5, 2005.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne Baxter and wife, Tammy of Azle and Sherman Baxter and wife, Donna of Springtown; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
