Helena D. Gibbons, 108, formerly of 305 Maple St., East Longmeadow, died Friday Oct. 18th at Baystate Medical Center. She lived in Springfield most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Cathedral. She was a member of the Catholic Womens Club in Springfield and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a registered nurse and a certified mid-wife at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She trained at Great Grimsby Hospital in England and was at Mass General Hospital in Boston for several years. She leaves many nieces and nephews in the U.S., as well as in Ireland . Funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., Chicopee, followed by a mass at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Cathedral with a burial at St. Michaels Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held the morning of the funeral from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the Grise Funeral Home.
