Funeral services for Mary Shafer (Bonnel) Lawhorn, 86, of Wagoner, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 1994, at the Shipman funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with the Rev. John Stuckey officiating. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Lawhorn was born to Charles and Ethel (Freund) Bonnel on April 22, 1908, in Wagoner, where she has been a lifelong resident. She died Monday, December 26, 1994, in Muskogee.
Mrs. Lawhorn was married to Shirley Shafer and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1966. She later married James C. Lawhorn and he preceded her in death in 1979. She worked in the gift shop at Western Hills Guest Ranch and retired after 20 years. She was an excellent seamstress and did all kinds of sewing from designing to alterations.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wagoner and was a very loving lady; friendship was valuable to her. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include a son; Charles Donald Shafer of Wagoner; four sisters, Bertha White, Dorothy McKim and Francis Ingram, all of Grove and Daisy Bryant of Hayward, California; a grandson, Joseph Donald Shafer; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
