Mrs. Askeland Passes Away At Redding
Mrs. Carrie Askeland, resident of the Land of Orland over forty years, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. A. Ulberg at Redding, with whom Mrs. Askeland had been making her home for the past two years.
Mrs. Askeland was born in Grand Falls, N.D. [MN], coming to the Land of Orland forty two years ago with her husband and family, and pioneering on a farm in the Norwegian Colony, which is now known as the Calumet district, northwest of town. She and her husband were prominent for years in the Orland Lutheran church, being charter members of the organization and assisting in building the present building. Mr. Askeland passed away about twelve years ago.
Mrs. Askeland is survived by one daughter and five sons: Mrs. Synneva Ulberg of Redding; Severin, Herman, Arthur, Norval, all of Orland; and Irvin of Tulare.
