Mrs. Mary Ellen Coffee, 76, of 273 West Benton St., Equality, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at 11:40 p.m. in Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She was married on Oct. 21, 1942, to Ray Coffee, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1985. Her parents were the late Jack and Nell Martin Parsons and she was born on April 24, 1921, in West Frankfort. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Equality. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, JoNell and Louie D. Edmonds of Shawneetown; and a granddaughter, Jackie Christine Coffee of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Jacqueline Parsons. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Equality Social Brethren Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Rhine Cemetery in Raleigh. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Vickery Funeral Home Chapel in Equality.
