"There was some dispute concerning the land donated
to the Catholics of Burlington by Colonel Archibald
Hyde. Bishop deGoesbriand settled the difficulty.
The lands in question was consecrated as a cemetery
to be used by both parishes. The Bishop performed
the solemn consecration ceremony on November 2,
1855, assisted by the priest from the Cathedral
parish and the Oblate Fathers from St. Joseph
........"The western proton of the lot was not blessed..."

Mount Calvary Cemetery was solemnly consecrated on
July 4, 1878, exclusively for St. Joseph parishioners.
"With approval of the Bishop, the Canadians gave up
all rights to St. Joseph's Cemetery and to land
adjacent to it, on condition that the families who
had already purchased lots there could continue
to bury their dead in them.

1940 "Mount Calvary Cemetery had now become filled
up." "In April 1936 Father Pariseau bought land on
Plattsburg Avenue.......It was consecrated that
same year, as the parish cemetery, the New Mount
