Pneumonia Fatal To Aug. P. Hoelz At Young America
Deceased Was Taken Ill While On Visit To Sisters; Died Monday.
It was a shock to his many friends here to learn Monday that A. P. Hoelz had died, especially so since reports seemed to indicate that he was slowly recovering from his critical illness of pneumonia. Death occurred at the home of his sisters, Mrs. Anna Truwe and Miss Lena Hoelz at Young America. Mr. Hoelz went there to visit his sisters the early part of December and was seized with an attack of double pneumonia from which he failed to recover.
During the greater part of Mr. Hoelz' life he had followed the occupation of farming at which he was successful, retiring 11 years ago.
August Peter Hoelz was born August 31, 1869, in Young America township, Carver county. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. George Hoelz. He attended a parochial school at Young America and after maturity was section foreman for 12 years. Upon retiring from railroad work he came here in 1896 and purchased a farm in Wilton township.
On Jan. 26, 1893, Mr Hoelz and Miss Eda Margaret Discher were united in marriage at this place. They resided for a time at Madison, Minn. Their family was composed of two sons and a daughter—William Hoelz, Mrs. Frank Apley and Jacob Hoelz, all of New Richland community. Mrs. Hoelz died June 9, 1928. Besides his sons and daughter, Mr. Hoelz is survived also by six grandchildren. One daughter, Frieda, died at the age of eight months.
One brother and four sisters survive the deceased. They are Fred Hoelz, of Watertown, S. D., Mrs. Joe Nahlinger, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Herman Acherman, St. Paul, Mrs. Anna Truwe, and Miss Lena Hoelz, Young America. His deceased brothers and sister are William, Adolph, and George Hoelz and Mrs. Elizabeth Knobel.
Mr. Hoelz affiliated with the Lutheran church of Wilton and later transferred his membership to the New Richland church. He served since 1921, with the exception of one term, on the township board of Wilton.
Funeral services for the departed are to be conducted today (Thursday) by Rev. Elmer F. Ackermann at 1 p. m. at the Wm. Hoelz home and at 2 p. m. at St. Peter's American Lutheran church. The remains will be interred in St. Peter's cemetery northwest of town.
Pall bearers are to be Chas. Possin, Ewald Gehring, Lewis Gehring, Lewis Ewest, Wm. Echternach and Chas. Schultz.
