Born Jan. 7, 1959, in Kennett, son of Norma Lewallen and the late Earl Lewallen, he was a 1977 graduate of Holcomb High School, a 1982 graduate of University of Missouri Columbia School of Nursing, and a 1985 Post Grad-Masters Degree in Nursing at Vanderbilt University. He was employed at University Vanderbilt Hospital for 26 years.
