CEREBRAL MENINGITIS FATAL TO EIGHT YEAR OLD VARNA GIRL

Funeral services for Pearl Hilma Eldora Adolphson were held from the First Lutheran Church at Varna, Friday, April 8, 1927 at 2 p.m.
She was born January 6, 1919, and passed away at the home of her parents five miles northeast of Varna on April 5, 1927, after an illness of several weeks duration of cerebral meningitis due to maxillary abcess. Her brief sojourn in the "tents of Kedar" ended at the age of eight years, two months and 29 days. While this bud was just unfolding in the fragrance of childish innocence and purity, she was mecifully lifted to a higher and more glorious realm; spared the tribulation and sorrows attendant to life, before any earthly blemish had marred the sweet flower that was the joy of the home. Rev. K. A. Nilsson, who had charge of the funeral speaking in both Swedish and English languages.
Two selections, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Rock of Ages" were rendered by the Misses Della Mae Peterson and Lucille Munson, accompanied by Miss Florence Gustafson at the piano.
The flower girls were Virginia Peterson, Eunice Schumacher, Bernice Peterson and Eleanor Prestin.
The casket bearers were Viola Schumacher, Irene Volker, Evelyn Gustafson and Evelyn Adolphson.
Those mourning her loss are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Adolphson, eight sisters and brothers, namely, Rena, Gilbert, Carl, Helen, Violet, Wahlfred, Virgil and Alta Delores, besides many other relatives and friends.
Interment was made in the Salem Cemetery (First Lutheran #1).
