Memorial service for Mavis Allen, 91, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Centenary United Methodist Church with senior pastor, the Rev. William F. Todd, officiating.
Mrs. Allen died Friday, Oct. 24, 2009, in a Lawton hospital.
Internment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Hanston, Kan., to Clarence Merton and Cora May (Bowers) Koontz. She grew up in Jetmore, Kan., and graduated with the class of 1936. She attended Kansas State University. She moved to Lawton in 1952 and worked for the Fort Sill National Bank for 22 years where she became their first female officer. She had been a volunteer at Comanche County Memorial Hospital for over 22 years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she was involved in United Methodist Women, Builders Sunday School Class and the Logos program.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Dianne and Eddie Lastinger, Lawton; and Kay Herder, Littleton, Colo.; two granddaughters:, Terri Trevino, Lawton; and Debbie and her husband, Kevin Hammon, Houston, Texas; two step-grandchildren: Glenn Lastinger, Sharpsburg, Ga.; and Terri and her husband, Bill Hooper, Houston, Texas; five great-grandchildren: Holly Golightly-Smyczek and her husband, Tom, Clinton; Ashley Kruger, Kayla Hammon, Jessica Trevino and Nathaniel Trevino, all of Houston, Texas; six great-great-grandchildren: Katelynn and Kourtnie Stanley, Ty and Eddie Smyczek, Payton Roberts and Kaydon Hammon.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Alex Trevino; four sisters, and two brothers.
