Shawnee resident Mary Reed, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at home of natural causes. Born June 1, 1929, in Oklahoma City to Augustus "Gus" Blevins and Minnie Bell Holland Blevins. She graduated high school and attended some college. She was a retired Scheduler for Tinker Air Force Base.

She married James Edward Reed in Oklahoma City on July 17, 1951. She was a long time member of Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City until she moved to Shawnee and joined Immanuel Baptist Church in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Reed, and infant son, Chester Don Reed. Survivors include her son, James Edward Reed Jr. and his wife Barbara of Oklahoma City; son, Mark Alan Reed and his wife Lori of Shawnee; grandchildren, Jamie Nichols and her husband Jesse Nichols, Jeremy Reed, Matthew Reed, Allison Reed, Carrie Moore and her husband, Kirk Moore, and Joanna Scott and her husband Russell Scott; great-grandchildren, Aaron Moore, Angel Moore, Britney Moore, Dillon Moore, Hannah Scott, Abigail Scott, Olivia Scott, Lora Nichols, Caleb Nichols and Gideon Nichols. She is also survived by her very special and beloved sister, Dorothy Curtis, and her very special and beloved niece, Betty Aven.

Pall Bearers will be Jeremy Reed, Matthew Reed, Jesse Nichols, Kirk Moore, Cameron Moles, Rusty Moles, Bruce Harrison, Tom Harrison. Honorary Pall Bearer is son-in-law, Russell Scott, who is serving our country in the military at this present time.

Service will be 10 am Saturday, Oct. 24, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Bethel with the Rev. Bryan Cook officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.
