Abijah Hulbert was born in Connecticut. He moved to Augusta, GA with his brothers James and Edward and they were all Carriage Makers. Abijah was a Carriage Maker for more than twenty years and then by 1870 he moved to Atlanta, GA and became a Trunk Manufacturer. Abijah was also involved in designing train cars and was involved in the railroad business along with his brother Edward. His wife was Maria Wilcox Hulbert and his children were Edgar Crapon, William Wilcox and Clara Leora Hulbert.
