DEATH SUMMONS MANVILLE MAN
Rites for George Akehurst to be Held Wednesday Afternoon.
George Akehurst, 63, lifelong resident of Manville where he was well known, died of a heart ailment Saturday evening at 8:40 o'clock in St. Mary hospital here. He had been in failing health for the past five years and when his condition became serious about a week prior to his passing he was removed to the local hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Hagi funeral home where Rev. H. J. Reed of the local Baptist church will offer a prayer and at 2 o'clock in the Manville Methodist church, Rev. Reed, officiating. Interment will be made in the family lot in Phillips cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of the service.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Akehurst, pioneer residents of Manville, the decedent, one of nine children, was born in that community June 29, 1877. He had spent his entire life in and around Manville, working as a farm hand until his health failed.
Surviving are one sister, Miss Lillian Akehurst of Chicago, and a brother, Charles Akehurst of Streator.
