January 24, 1934 ~ November 7, 2005 (age 71)

In Loving Memory of Margaret L. Ackerman

Margaret Louise Ackerman, of Milford, died Monday, November 7, 2005, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 13 days. She was born January 24, 1934, on a farm near Sterling, Kansas to Clyde and Wilma (Alber) McGonigle, the first of two children born. As a young girl she attended country schools in Kansas and Nebraska and later graduated from Beaver Crossing High School with the class of 1952.

She was united in marriage on June 20, 1952 to Charley Ackerman and to this union two children, Russell and Rachelle were born. Together they began their married life in Milford where they have remained and built their current home in 1980. Margaret enjoyed painting and completing the interior of this home. For a time she worked in a nursing home in Kansas and also at the Elgin Watch factory in Lincoln while Charley was in the service. Margaret and Bonnie Miller played the organ and piano together for more than 50 years at the Assembly of God church and also at weddings, funerals and area nursing homes including Crestview Care Center in Milford and the Greene House in Seward. For many years Margaret taught piano and organ lessons to many students and continued up until the day she entered the hospital. An accomplished musician, Margaret loved providing many hours of enjoyment to people in and around Milford with her gift of music. She was a wonderful friend, companion, self-sufficient, could do anything and was always "there" for her family and friends. She was determined to accomplish all she set out to do, including adding pavers to her yard this summer. In her spare time Margaret enjoyed using her computer to e-mail and completed a genealogy on her family back to 1400. She was an avid golfer, even beating Charley at the game and enjoyed playing until she broke her arm and cancer forced her to stop. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard and loved the many family animals over the years especially her current pet dog, Bianco.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Charley Ackerman, Milford, daughter and son-in-law, Rachelle and Ray Neverdahl, Lincoln, son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Susan Ackerman, Wilton, CT, two grandchildren, Adriana and Alexander Ackerman, Wilton, CT, mother, Wilma McGonigle, Seward, brother and sister-in-law, Dale and LaDean McGonigle, Beaver Crossing, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde McGonigle.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Grace Missionary Church in Milford, with Rev. Kent Anderson, Jim Wilkins and Andrew Petro, officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Rural Milford. Visitation is from 11am to 8pm Friday, 9am to 4pm Saturday at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford and one hour before service at the church.
