PACE COUNTED IN ELECTION

Civil War Soldier for Lincoln in 1864 – Passes On

OKANOGAN, Wash., Jan 11 – Frank Kilpatrick, 84, Civil War veteran, who died at his home here Monday, enlisted in 1864, when he was 16 years of age. At the close of the war he became sergeant of military police and was stationed at Cairo, Ill., several years. Later he moved to LaGrande, Ore., and from there to Montana in 1910. In 1917 he came here.
Surviving relatives include his widow and three sons, D. Wilbur C. Kilpatrick, James Kilpatrick and one in Montana.
Kilpatrick voted for Abraham Lincoln in 1864, although he was under age, as all soldiers were permitted to vote on the presidency. An election officer called upon those voting for Lincoln to step from the lines and then counted the votes, taking the names.
But one Civil war veteran, E. N. Bragg, is now left here.
