Simon Snyder, a highly respected and prominent farmer residing six miles south-east of Bremen, dropped suddenly dead while sitting at his home reading, Wednesday forenoon. He had been doing the chores about the place during the morning, and had made no complaints of feeling ill. Heart disease is presumable the cause of his death. The funeral services will be held at the Union church near Hepton, at 11 o'clock Saturday.

OBITUARY
Simon Snyder was born in Lancaster county, Penn., September 23rd 1811, and died December 3rd, 1890. Aged 79 years, 2 months and 10 days. When a young man he came with his father to Starke county, Ohio, where he was united in marriage with Saloma Schmachtenberger, on May 9th, 1841. They resided in Ohio until the year 1848, when they moved to Marshall county, Ind., settling on the farm where they lived to the time of his death. To this union there were born eight children, six sons and two daughters, two sons and one daughter having preceded to their resting place. Mr. Snyder was one the oldest and best known citizens in German township. He served as trustee when there were three trustees in the township and after the law only required but one trustee, he filled the office for twelve successive years. While in office he was always found to be honest and upright in his business and always ready to do anything that was to the interest of the people. During the past few years he had retired from farming and was living with his youngest son, J. B. Snyder, who has charge of the place. However, he was not found idle, as he was out at work nearly every day. He was willing to help those in need and never turned anyone away. He was honored by all who knew him and died without an enemy. Mr. Snyder became a member of the German Evangelical church about the year 1856, and was a member of that church to the time of his death. He leaves one brother, three sisters, four sons, one daughter, twenty-eight grand children and four great grand children, besides a host of friends to mourn his departure.
