Katherine Phillipina Rebecca "Katie" von Spreckelsen was born December 26, 1889 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her parents were Johann "John" Amandus von Spreckelsen and Katherine Phillapina Dehne. She married Charles Clyde McKamey on her birthday in 1909. She was active in the community and had 12 children, two of them stillborn. She died April 12, 1972 in the Vinewood Nursing Home in Plainfield, Indiana. She was blind when she died. Cataract problems ran in the von Spreckelsen family. She was buried April 15, 1972 in Cloverdale Cemetery.
