Born in Upland, PA, Phyllis was a 1960 graduate of Chester High School. A resident of Wilmington, DE for the past 28 years, she started her work career with the State Farm Insurance Company in Springfield, PA, working there from 1960-1976. Her recent employment was with the CIGNA Insurance Corporation in Wilmington, DE from 1985-2000. She was able to play the flute, and while a longtime member of the Elam United Methodist Church, she served on the worship committee, the missions committee, and previously with the bell and Jubilate choirs. Mrs. Ashman enjoyed reading, was an avid bowler, and loved to travel.
Surviving is her husband of 34 years, Harry I. Ashman; and 2 sons, Brian D. (and Anne) Ashman of Boothwyn, PA and Craig S. Ashman of Wilmington, DE. A sister, Susan D. (and William) Kardine of Glen Mills, PA; a nephew, William B. Kardine; a niece, Megan E. Kardine; and her mother, Margaret B. Dulin, formerly of Parkside, PA also survive. She was the daughter of the late Bradford R. Dulin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service 11 am Saturday, November 24 at the Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342, where calling hours will be from 9-11 am. Burial will be in the adjoining churchyard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the church or the American Cancer Society, 600 N. Jackson St., Media, PA 19063.
